This workshop aims at providing basic knowledge and skills necessary to understand Needs & Impact Assessment (NIA) as a process. It will impart basic insights to understand the associated tools required to carry out a Social Impact Assessment (SIA), Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Post Disaster Need Assessment (PDNA). The workshop will use a theoretical approach to understand the concepts, however, it will be more focused on field-based case studies and experiences. A field visit will be organised to understand a relevant real-world context and to apply effective tools of assessment. Through various group-based activities, participants will able to understand the SIA, EIA and PDNA activities and ways to design effective strategies for understanding the processes involved in the Assessment reports.

Project Managers, Project Officers, Project Assistants, CSR professionals, Researchers, Quality Assurance Officers, Administrators, Human Resources and Finance officers.

Course Description:

The workshop is designed to have an effective blend of instruction and participatory process. This basic course provides a current overview of leading assessment practices related to SIA, EIA and PDNA. The workshop will provide insights on designing and use of different kind of tools including qualitative and quantitative and GIS for impact assessment. The course aims to improve the effectiveness of professionals engaged in development work through best practices in assessment procedure, including frameworks and principles of assessments. It will comprehend international standards and best practices involved in assessing the impact on the standard of living, housing, livelihood, psychological and health aspects. This is an interactive course that utilises field visits, group exercises and focused discussion, giving participants an opportunity to share ideas and experiences, and critically understand SIA & EIA reports. It intents at providing a basic but holistic understanding of the impact assessment processes.

After August 31 : Rs. 20,000/- (subject to availability of seats)

Special Discount: Discount on course fees will be offered for a participant who also attends Monitoring & Evaluation Workshop.


Fees will cover the participants kit, reading material, lunch, certificate and a group photograph. Formal confirmation of enrollment will be sent upon completion of registration process and payment of fees. Please note that accommodations and travel are not included in the course fee.

Accommodation: Accommodation facility is available only for 15 participants at International Hostel at a charge of Rs. 650/- per day. It will be made available on first come basis.

Cancellation Policy: For cancellation of registration, fees will be reimbursed after deducting Rs 1,000 only for those requests received in writing one week prior to commencement of workshop. Email cancellation requests to All refunds will be processed after the workshop.
